Sales & Service Representative
This is an outside, field, sales-service position in which the employee will identify, develop, and service new accounts in assigned territory as well as service any existing accounts.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Ability to develop and perform all sales and service activities in assigned territory
- Substantial experience in selling and servicing profitable water management programs desired, not required
- Promotion and sales of goods and services to new ProChemTech customers
- “Hands-on” servicing of accounts which includes but is not limited to; chemical testing, calibration and repair of chemical feed related equipment, and visual inspections of systems.
- Schedule service and sales calls – includes daily, weekly and monthly reporting
- Identify new business needs and opportunities, and develop and implement customized solutions for our customers
- High school diploma or GED, science or engineering 2 or 4 yr college degree preferred, Association of Water Technologies CWT certification would be great
- Previous employment in water management sales and service desirable, not required
- Strong hands on chemical, mechanical, and electrical aptitude
- Highly Motivated, Self Starter
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
Sales Responsibilities
This is an outside, field, sales-service position in which the employee will identify, develop, and service new accounts in assigned territory as well as service any existing accounts. This an independent position with minimal direct supervision generally working from a home office.
- Generate and execute sales plan in obtained customer base and against competitively-held accounts to meet defined territory sales and profit increase goals. When service time exceeds 75% of monthly time, 150 hours per month, sales volume/profit will be evaluated to justify a dedicated territory service technician.
- Work closely with current and prospective customers to understand business needs and recommend continuous improvement and innovation plans that will maintain and grow sales within assigned territory.
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in current and prospective customers, including plant, facility, and corporate executives.
- Provide technical support to customers; identifying and resolving customer challenges, escalating as required.
- Engage in problem solving by performing system analysis, interpreting data and providing written recommendations to ensure customer operations are performing at optimal levels.
- Actively sell and support ProChemTech innovations and technology in assigned customers to promote long-term business relationships with ProChemTech.
- Primary reporting will be to the Corporate Sales Manager based in Brockway, PA.
- Work with Corporate staff and management to ensure success in sales and service activities.
- Having pricing authority, price water management programs so as to obtain new business while making a reasonable profit.
- Work with the Engineered Systems Division staff on sales of major systems such as wastewater treatment, recycle, and reuse, and cooling towers.
- Develop a network of local design engineering firms, mechanical contractors, and real estate managers to generate leads.
- Participate in local networking groups such as ASHE, USGBA, BOMA and like to develop sales opportunities.
- Perform water treatment surveys on prospective sites.
- Devise water treatment programs and develop proposal, support by Main Office staff.
- Make sales call and close new business.
Service Responsibilities
- Service is a very important part of this job. If you expect or desire for service to be a small portion of the job, do not apply.
- We need highly competent people with mechanical and electrical aptitude. Much of this job is troubleshooting equipment problems and correcting them with minimal support from Main Office staff.
- Lead and manage the customer relationship including as needed an annual program review.
- Plan and perform routine customer water treatment service visits based on schedule and established customer desires.
- Run on-site water chemistry tests, analyze results, take corrective action(s), make adjustments, calibrate control equipment, communicate the results and recommendations to customer verbally and via electronic service report (MS Excel) copied to ProChemTech Corporate Sale/Service Manager.
- Maintain water treatment control and chemical feed equipment including water softeners, controllers, pumps, tubing chemical inventory, test kits, and reagents. This includes rebuilding and repairing equipment on-site or working with Main Office staff to generate a quote for repair or replacement items. Key here is to be able to achieve this with limited interaction and support from Main Office staff.
- Provide customer training as requested using prepared materials.
- Maintain relationships with all customer managers, staff, and operators.
Training
- A minimum two weeks, office education and on customer site, training will be provided at the Main Office in Brockway, PA.
- Additional field training on both sales and service will be provided as time permits in the assigned territory by Main Office staff and other Sales/Service representatives.
- Use of on-line AWT training material encouraged using the Members Only portion of the WEB site to access Webinars, training courses, and troubleshooting guides.
- With five years field experience, Sales/Service Representatives are encouraged to obtain the AWT Certified Water Technologist credential. PCT pays all costs.
Compensation
- Base salary based on experience, range from $45,000 to $95,000 per year
- A 10% commission on profit for each new customer for the duration of the account
